Vokes and Peters on Lunchbox Architect
Vokes and Peters is an architecture practice based in South Brisbane. Its work on Lunchbox shows a sensitive approach to renovating Brisbane's older homes, keeping their original character rather than stripping them back to a generic open plan.
At West End Cottage, the new work preserves and extends the existing pattern of rooms in a worker's cottage, with a raised courtyard bringing sun into the centre of the plan. At Wilston Garden Room, the practice reorganised a family Queenslander so living spaces gain better light and orientation, adding a garden room that reconnects the house with its backyard.
The practice has also collaborated with Blok Modular on prefabricated coastal homes, including Blok Belongil in Byron Bay and Blok Three Sisters on Minjerribah (North Stradbroke Island).
