Amanda Calvert - Barry Sweet Architecture

Barry Sweet Architecture is a family business led by Amanda Calvert, a qualified architectural technician and registered architect in Victoria who spent much of her career leading large commercial and multi-unit residential projects in Melbourne. Today the practice works on homes, interiors and commercial projects, and also helps with feasibilities, town planning, tendering and construction. They believe "homes and renovations are not 'one size fits all'", and each residential project is driven by the site and by "listening to what our client's really want for their own homes."

On Lunchbox, Kyneton Country Townhouse is Amanda's own home, a new townhouse in the quiet streets of Kyneton, halfway between Bendigo and Melbourne. Rather than country cottages or wide-open spaces, the idea was "a family haven in the heart of a village", on a north-facing block with blockwork, timber and metal cladding and plenty of thermal mass.

A New Townhouse Nestled in the Quiet Streets of a Country Town

You don't envisage a townhouse when you think of country town living, but this architect's own home is perfect for her family.
