Architecture Bureau is a New Zealand practice based in Hamilton. Their work on Lunchbox, Screened by Pohutukawa House, is a holiday home on a secluded beachfront site in busy Mount Maunganui, sheltered behind a magnificent pohutukawa tree and one of the few original beach cottages left along the beach.

The brief was a new house with more room for extended family holidays that still kept the spirit of simple, relaxed, laid-back holiday living the family already loved. The 135-square-metre home enjoys beach views and opens straight onto the garden, with plywood interiors, batten screens for privacy and easy indoor-outdoor living.
