Arcke Architecture and Interior Design

Arcke is an architecture practice based in leafy, subtropical Paddington in Brisbane, concentrating on sustainable, creative homes in Brisbane and on the Sunshine Coast. They value the interaction between architecture and landscape and the tactile response to materials, and they're always looking for chances to add green spaces, courtyards and gardens. In their words, "Our designs aspire to elicit feelings of wellbeing and comfort, of connection and inspiration."

Both of their Lunchbox projects show what a light touch can do. A Sunroom in Brisbane reconfigures an old sleepout into a light-filled sunroom and study, with custom joinery, movable timber screens and a new articulated fence that weaves to create a place to sit and pot plants. Wickham Point House on the Sunshine Coast keeps the character of a beach house the owners loved while adding flexible spaces for lounging and snoozing, so there's always somewhere for friends and family to crash.

We love simple projects that make a big difference. And it doesn't get much simpler than a sunroom and a fence.
