Auhaus Architecture on Lunchbox Architect
Auhaus is a Melbourne architecture studio founded in 2011 by Kate Fitzpatrick and Benjamin Stibbard. They design private houses on coastal, rural and urban sites, and they're involved from the first conversation through to handover. The focus is deliberate: "We work only on houses." Every project starts with the site, "and with what the site will not allow", and the houses are built to take on the weather outside while turning inward to rooms "that hold their warmth and slow you down."
On Lunchbox, Gabled Guest Pavilion transforms a tiny weatherboard beach shack in Barwon Heads, a semi-permanent home and holiday house for an extended family. The renovation opens up the original house by exaggerating the height of its gabled roof, and a new guest pavilion, linked by a timber deck, can work independently of the main house for maximum flexibility.

Tiny Gabled Guest Pavilion Adds Space to a Weatherboard Weekender
A separate gabled guest pavilion adds both space flexibility to an existing weatherboard weekender, making it the perfect family getaway.
