Baker Drofenik Architects
Baker Drofenik Architects is a residential practice with a studio in Melbourne and on the Bellarine Peninsula, working across metropolitan Melbourne, the Bellarine, the Surf Coast and regional Victoria. With more than four decades of combined experience, they design sensitive renovations, additions, new homes and rural lifestyle properties, each "shaped by its site, climate and the people who will call it home." Their promise is simple: "Homes Thoughtfully Designed. Naturally Comfortable." They're especially keen on helping people get more out of the home they already have, with upgrades that improve comfort, cut energy use and move away from fossil fuels.
On Lunchbox, Coburg North House transforms a poorly oriented 1940s house on a challenging battle-axe block. Rather than extend straight off the back, the architects pulled a new living pavilion away from the existing house, separated by a courtyard, so the new spaces are full of natural light and open to the outdoors.

A new addition prioritises light and a connection to the garden, transforming this 1940s house into an uplifting and modern home.
