BDA Architecture

BDA Architecture is a Gold Coast architecture studio led by directors Darren Greenaway and Adam Beck. In more than 20 years of practice, it has designed a wide variety of buildings, with a commitment to architecture "that responds thoughtfully to the wider cultural, economic, climatic, and community context." Their vision is simple: "We create enduring architecture, that is a unique expression of shape and form." They get there through simplicity of concept and a process of investigation, experimentation, collaboration and consultation.

On Lunchbox, The Island House is Darren Greenaway's own family holiday home on South Stradbroke Island, surrounded by native rainforest, wetlands, beaches and wildlife. Designed to harmonise with the landscape while still offering modern comforts, it uses charred timber and plywood, clerestory windows, deep eaves and cross ventilation to make the most of its island setting.
