Ben Walker Architects

Ben Walker Architects (bwa) was established in 2012 by Ben Walker in Ainslie, in the ACT, to explore "a passion for considered and well detailed projects" alongside conceptual research into the design of the city. The practice has built projects across the ACT and New South Wales, many of them recognised in the Australian Institute of Architects awards. Every project is approached with design rigour and exploration, "with a focus on buildability and sustainability in all decisions."

On Lunchbox, SL House is a new home in Aranda, one of Canberra's bushiest suburbs, where many large native trees were kept when the suburb was developed. On a site that falls steeply towards the street, the living spaces are lifted up so the home feels like it's floating among the treetops, with clerestory windows, deep eaves and a passive solar layout connecting every room to the mature landscape around it.

See SL House on Lunchbox below.
