Bild Architecture on Lunchbox Architect

Bild Architecture is a Melbourne design studio focused on residential architecture, founded by Ben Milbourne and based in North Melbourne. They work collaboratively with clients, using "each project's intersection of social context, environmental conditions & brief as a springboard for creating unique places for people." Their portfolio includes homes such as North Melbourne House, The Panopticon House, Mirror House and Split House.

Both of their Lunchbox projects are part of an ongoing series exploring how vernacular Australian suburban house types can adapt to contemporary life. Blurred House renovates and extends a 1930s Californian bungalow in Melbourne's inner north, blurring old and new into a hybrid rather than setting up the usual jarring contrast. California Dreaming applies the same thinking to a pair of new duplex homes in an inter-war California bungalow enclave in inner-urban Launceston.
