Donovan Hill Architects
Donovan Hill Architects' work on Lunchbox is Happy Haus, a prefabricated house that arrives on the back of a truck, gets craned into place and is ready to move into. Prefab homes have often relied on clever couplings, special materials and unusual spanning systems, which can make them expensive to build and maintain. Happy Haus takes the opposite approach, using the same conventional systems as an ordinary house.
The whole house is fitted out, taps, cupboards and switches included, before it leaves the factory, so it only needs connecting to services on arrival, which is great news for regional and remote areas. Timber sashes and shaped internal volumes keep it homely, and the modules can be arranged in clusters to frame a view, catch the winter sun or shelter from the wind.

Happy Haus Arrives on a Truck Ready to Move Into
How exciting to unload an architecturally designed house off a truck, unwrap it (like a giant Christmas gift) and move straight in -- with Happy Haus, you can!
