CO-AP

CO-AP is a Sydney architecture practice based in Darlinghurst, established in 2005. Led by principal architect Will Fung, the studio has completed houses and apartments alongside showroom and office fit-outs, hospitality, educational and retail work.

The practice says it "thrives on challenging assignments" – difficult sites, complex briefs and strict planning controls – and takes "a collaborative approach to realising fresh outcomes for each project, with an emphasis on research and development and an inherent regard for sustainability." Its design process, in its own words, "always strives to distill an architecture that is simple, and executed with precision and clarity." CO-AP is also a certified carbon neutral service.

On Lunchbox, Surry Hills Terrace shows that approach at domestic scale: a late-Victorian terrace reworked to bring in daylight, connect to its compact courtyard and work better for its owners, all without extending the footprint.
