Cooee Architecture

Cooee Architecture is a regional practice led by director and architect Sarah Lebner, based in Tooma, New South Wales. Its purpose, in its own words, is "connecting regional people with low-carbon resilient homes, and fulfilling lives within them", and it offers everything from free resources to full design services.

Sarah received the Australian Institute of Architects' National Emerging Architect Prize in 2020 and was one of five participants selected for the Institute's Dulux Study Tour in 2023. Before founding Cooee she was principal architect at Canberra firm Light House Architecture and Science, focusing on high levels of energy efficiency alongside affordability and buildability.

The practice works to 18 clear design intentions, tailored to each client's values, site and budget and reviewed at every stage, with the goal of a solution that is "sustainable, intelligent, and simple."

On Lunchbox, Jacob and Jade's House turns a cold, dark and outdated house in Flynn, Canberra, into an energy-efficient home for a carpenter and his partner, with a modest 21-square-metre extension.
