Cooper Scaife Architects on Lunchbox Architect
Cooper Scaife Architects is a regional architecture practice based in Hamilton and working throughout western Victoria. Led by Daniel Cooper and Bianca Scaife, both of whom studied architecture at RMIT, the firm was established in 2003 after the pair spent several years working in design offices in Melbourne, Hong Kong and the Netherlands.
Its work now spans new houses and alterations to heritage homes as well as commercial, municipal, cultural tourism, education and health facilities. The practice says it has "an established reputation for producing sophisticated architectural design, whilst maintaining firm control over our clients' budgets", and describes a strategic approach that runs "from the 'big picture' through to the smallest details", working closely with clients throughout.
On Lunchbox, Leura Lane House is a two-bedroom modular prototype home near Hamilton designed for rural properties, which achieves an 8.2-star energy rating through passive solar design, thermal mass, double glazing and careful shading.
