Day Bukh Architects
Day Bukh Architects, now Matt Day Architect, is a small design-based studio in Mona Vale on Sydney's Northern Beaches, led by architect Matt Day. It specialises in "high quality low-energy homes and small public buildings that are highly connected to nature", with new houses across Sydney and in coastal, alpine and bush locations, as well as renovations and extensions.
Best-practice passive solar design is the studio's minimum standard, and it aims further where it can, towards Passivhaus Standard, off-grid, net zero and carbon positive homes. Its motto is "Consume Less – Enjoy More."
On Lunchbox, Doll's House hides a playful split-level renovation behind a classic gabled front in Sydney. Sustainable House Annandale gets the basics of sustainable design right in the inner west, and Sustainable House Marrickville adds a light-filled living pavilion built around passive solar design, thermal mass and recycled materials for a family of four.
