Drew Heath Architects

Drew Heath is a Sydney architect and builder. His Lunchbox project, Tír na nÓg, is his own home in McMahons Point, just three kilometres from the city centre.

Arrive blindfolded and you might think you had been taken to a secluded jungle, or a film set. The renovated workers cottage is wrapped in lush foliage, natural timbers and an open-air feel, and the only giveaways that you are in Sydney are glimpses of a terrace house or a passing car through the creepers. Inspired by the overgrown ruins of Angkor Wat, the house uses courtyards, internal gardens, pergolas and battened screens to blur the boundary between inside and out.
