EM Architects

EM Architects is the practice of architect Emma Mitchell, based in Anglesea on Victoria's Surf Coast – "architecture in the bushes near Anglesea", as the practice puts it. Many of its houses are along the coast, in Anglesea, Torquay, Fairhaven and Breamlea, with others in Melbourne, Daylesford and beyond.

On Lunchbox, Brunswick Cottage does what many would call renovator's suicide: it makes a small miner's cottage in Brunswick even smaller. By drawing the outdoors in – fitting for an owner who is a landscape architect – with internal garden beds, courtyards, clerestory windows, recycled brick and polished concrete, the compact home ends up feeling much larger.
