Grafika

Grafika is a Sydney design studio. Its Lunchbox project, House 33.2, is a fully equipped second home tucked into a typical suburban backyard about 20 kilometres south-west of Sydney.

"The client wanted an additional house toward the back of an existing residential dwelling," the designers explain. The brief called for a full kitchen, laundry, bathroom, bedroom, home office, audio studio, work studio and open living and dining area – all in a compact footprint. The striking black-and-white design, warmed with timber, connects to the existing yard to the west and uses double glazing, eaves and a high-performance envelope.

There's a Fully Equipped House Tucked Into This Suburban Backyard

This striking house of contrasting black and white with touches of warming timber is exciting and dynamic in-spite of its compact size.
