JYA-Rchitects on Lunchbox Architect

JYA-RCHITECTS is a South Korean architecture practice. Its Lunchbox project, Low-Cost Container House, was part of the Korea Child Fund's "Low Cost House Series", aimed at improving living conditions for low-income families.

In the small village of Jangheung in the country's south, the architects created a modern, bright home for a family of seven from just three 20-foot shipping containers and light-gauge framing. A translucent skin adds extra space at a very low cost, showing how green design can overcome even the tightest budget.
