Maarch Architecture

Maarch – short for Mark Aronson Architecture – is a Perth architecture studio based in Nedlands, founded in 2012 and led by principal director Mark Aronson. It sees its small, tight-knit team as its biggest asset, and excels at delivering "small batch, optimised projects in areas where it is difficult to secure approvals".

The studio takes a data-driven, strategic approach built on four principles – consider, collate, co-create and realise – analysing site, context and community to identify opportunities and constraints early, then staying involved through to completion.

On Lunchbox, Boya House adds a kitchen extension and garden room to a 1970s brown-brick home in the Darling Range. Working within bushfire regulations, limited site access and a rocky granite outcrop, the architects landed a protruding glass box that immerses the owners in the landscape.

Breaking out of the old, brown-brick home, this new glass box for living is surrounded by birdlife and the sounds of insects at dusk.
