MacCormick & Associates Architects

MacCormick & Associates Architects is an experienced Sydney practice, based in Queens Park, specialising in all forms of residential architecture. It has built its reputation on a simple formula: responding to client needs "in ways that exceed their expectations", taking the time to understand each site, client, budget and council so that designs are tailored accordingly and no two look the same.

Director Michael MacCormick studied architecture in Sydney and Stockholm, graduating with honours from the University of NSW in 1997, and worked for local firms and in Germany before establishing the practice in 2010. He is the principal designer, overseeing every stage of each project, and promotes architecture in the community as a speaker for and board member of the Australian Architecture Association.

On Lunchbox, Escher House rethinks a dark, cramped four-storey Sydney terrace with a playful, Escher-like relocation of the stairs, improving light and circulation and opening up its cellular 19th-century rooms.
