Melbourne Design Studios

Melbourne Design Studios is a Melbourne-based design practice.

Its Lunchbox project, Golden Bliss, is a pair of side-by-side family homes in Ashburton that blends luxury with eco-conscious design. Positioned to make the most of the northern sun, the homes fill their living spaces with natural light, while the facades play with the golden hues of the setting sun and integrated planters soften the exterior. A significant existing tree was kept, with the western home designed around it.

The practice successfully argued for a side-by-side layout rather than a front-to-back subdivision, so each home has its own street frontage and north-facing backyard, while from the street the pair reads as one large residence.
