Mountford Architects, now Mountford McCarey Architects (MMA), is a Perth practice based in Northbridge, led by principal architect Ben Mountford and design principal Dervla McCarey. Its expertise lies in luxury residential architecture, renovations and interior design, with thoughtful, high-quality solutions for new builds, additions and commercial projects that balance an international sensibility with a regional focus.

The practice is passionate about creating "local, timeless architecture" using sustainable building practices, and works from a multi-disciplinary studio shared with structural engineers and landscape architects, all collaborating in the one space.

On Lunchbox, Sussex Street House bucks the trend for huge houses on small suburban blocks. The owner chose a compact home that makes the most of sun and breezes on a tight Perth block, so that outdoor spaces become additional living areas.
