Perversi-Brooks Architects

Perversi-Brooks Architects is an emerging architectural practice based in Tasmania and also registered to practise in Victoria. Its work spans architecture, interior architecture and design, urban design and master planning, and custom furniture.

The practice describes its approach as contextual in the broadest sense, often looking to subvert, distort or adapt a site's history, community and culture to arrive at what it calls a 'radical-contextual' response. It is not interested in style for style's sake, preferring to embed ideas and narratives drawn from each client and site, at every scale from the door handle to the city.

Founder Sam Perversi-Brooks holds a Master of Architecture from RMIT University and worked for eight years on large education, research and civic projects before establishing the practice. He has taught at RMIT and is a guest critic at the University of Melbourne and Monash University.

On Lunchbox, Mexican Swiss Chalet - Malmsbury House adds a small, brick-floored sunroom and a joinery 'cabinet of curiosities' to a 1970s mud-brick home, while Cabinet of Curiosities House reworks an Edwardian home in Elwood around an artist's collections.
