Porter Architects

Porter Architects is a multi-disciplinary design studio based in the regional city of Ballarat, providing full architectural services for cultural, community, residential and commercial projects. Director Nathan Porter, a registered architect and member of the Australian Institute of Architects, opened the practice in early 2012 after gaining experience at Melbourne practices.

The studio focuses on thoughtful, contemporary and crafted buildings in sensitive heritage, community and natural contexts. Its work is defined by careful detailing, attention to materials, rigorous planning and consideration of site, context and sustainability, and it believes architecture doesn't need to be overcomplicated or costly. Lake Wendouree House won a TIDA Homes award and Ballarat East House was highly commended.

On Lunchbox, Lake Wendouree House and Golden Point House add contemporary rear extensions to older Ballarat homes, while Ballarat East House is a new timber home on a bushy, sloping site.
