Preston Lane Architects on Lunchbox Architect

Preston Lane Architects is a design-focused architectural practice with offices in Hobart and Melbourne, led by directors Daniel Lane and Nathanael Preston. Their combined experience ranges from small, highly crafted residential projects to larger-scale urban design and the management of multi-disciplinary teams on commercial projects.

The practice creates highly considered architecture that responds to its human, environmental and social context, exploring how built form, space and materiality affect people. While the aesthetic of the work matters, its priority is a unique sensitivity and emotion within each space, from a single room to an urban landscape. Its work spans commercial, retail, hospitality, government, industrial, heritage and residential projects.

On Lunchbox, Brick Residence carefully extends a 1951 modernist home in Melbourne, Knocklofty turns a 1980s Hobart house into a warehouse-style family home, and Milkman's Cottage transforms a tiny heritage cottage into a spacious home.
