R Architecture

R Architecture is a Melbourne architecture practice designing contemporary family homes.

On Lunchbox, Baker's House in Hampton East is a modern take on Melbourne's beach boxes, reimagined for family life. Instead of the usual front-and-back-yard layout, the home wraps around a central courtyard inspired by traditional Indian homes, planned to make the most of its eastern orientation and flood the interiors with light. Bold colour, exposed brick and a simple palette of timber, metal, concrete and glass celebrate the family's love of food, culture and connection, while passive design, cross-ventilation and careful zoning give each family member their own space.
