Richard Peters Associates

Richard Peters Associates is a Sydney practice whose featured work shows attention to detail and a restrained hand in adapting old buildings for sustainable modern living.

On Lunchbox, The Shed converts a laneway shed in Randwick, built in 1890 for a coach-building business and later used as a motorcycle workshop, warehouse and artists' studio, into a compact home that challenges the idea that bigger is better. A new courtyard opens the northern wall to winter sun that warms the slab, the corrugated iron roof was rebuilt with insulation to keep the sleeping loft comfortable, and the building's heritage character has been kept.
