Rodney Moss Architect on Lunchbox Architect
Rodney Moss is an architect whose featured work explores simple, flexible ways of living on the coast.
On Lunchbox, The Mook (Chief's House) at Mollymook on the New South Wales South Coast expands a family holiday property with a new pavilion beside an existing fibro beach shack. Inspired by Solomon Islands villages, where individual homes cluster around a shared lawn, the two buildings frame a safe central court where children can play and adults gather. The pavilion is more like a sophisticated tent than a typical house: large recycled-timber sliding doors open it to the breeze and lawn, and its self-supporting steel frame allowed it to be prefabricated off site with minimal disturbance to the land.
