Seamus Ryan Architects

Seamus Ryan Architects is a Perth architecture practice whose featured work focuses on renovating and extending older homes to bring in light, improve energy efficiency and connect with the garden.

On Lunchbox, Leederville House is an eco-friendly renovation of a heritage home on a corner block that achieves a 9.5-star energy rating. A new L-shaped addition, with a vaulted ceiling and clerestory windows, shields the home from the side street and creates a private, north-facing refuge. Mount Hawthorn House replaces a dark, poorly connected addition with a long, thin extension hugging the southern boundary, opening onto a covered alfresco area to create an outdoor room.

A Unique Vaulted Ceiling and Clerestory Windows Bring in the Light

A home on a corner block maximises light without sacrificing privacy by reorienting to the north and some strategic clerestory windows.

Hugging the Southern Boundary Creates an Outdoor Room At This Reno...

A long, thin addition on the southern boundary allows this home to maximise the amount of natural light and create an outdoor room.
