Space Division on Lunchbox Architect

Space Division is an Auckland architecture practice whose work includes new houses, alterations and adaptive reuse projects, among them certified Passivhaus homes such as Taupaki House and Seaward House.

On Lunchbox, Stradwick House is a modest family home built on top of an existing 1980s brick double garage at the end of a long right of way on an established, treed site in central Auckland. Reusing the garage structure and platform, which is set into the hill, the design creates light and a sense of space through double-height volumes, clerestory windows and large openings, with built-in joinery and batten screens adding warmth and privacy.
