Those Architects

Those Architects is led by registered architects Ben Mitchell and Simon Addinall, with studios in Sydney, Byron Bay and Brisbane. Their stated aim is simple: "We design buildings that simply connect people to place." Ben heads the Sydney studio. Simon runs Byron Bay, where his work is driven by the relationship between climate, landscape and people, whether it's a coastal house, a country residence or a city home.

Their work on Lunchbox shows that range. Maroubra House reworks a post-war semi for a young family without walling off the backyard. Armidale House adds an unashamedly contemporary "podium" to a heritage-listed cottage. House Frances turns a Sydney home on its side to open onto a sunny courtyard. And House Burch makes a 1970s Byron Bay house fit for the sub-tropics. House Frances and House Burch were both shortlisted in the Houses Awards (2018 and 2019).
