TYIN tegnestue is a non-profit organisation working in humanitarian architecture, run by architecture students from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). Its projects have been financed by Norwegian companies and private contributions, and it aims to build small, strategic projects that improve the lives of people in difficult situations through close collaboration with local communities and mutual learning.
On Lunchbox, Soe Ker Tie Houses Thailand provides private sleeping spaces for orphaned children in Noh Bo, Thailand. The small 'butterfly' houses use local and sustainable materials such as bamboo, with prefabricated elements, cross-ventilation and rainwater harvesting suited to the climate.
