Watson Architecture + Design

Watson Architecture + Design is an architecture practice based in Carlton, Melbourne. Its work ranges from architecture, infrastructure and industrial design to experimental design and humanitarian projects.

On Lunchbox, Peninsula House in Portsea sits a few hundred metres from the rugged coastline at the tip of the Mornington Peninsula. The clients asked for an informal home that would be as comfortable for one person as for ten. The split-level design divides the house into two glazed pavilions, communal and private, separated by a covered outdoor deck beneath a large timber-finned exoskeleton. Up to 75 per cent of the timber used is recycled, bringing warmth to an otherwise minimal design.
