Windiate Architects

Windiate Architects is a small boutique architecture practice with a very hands-on approach, led by owner and principal architect Gary Windiate, who personally leads every project. The practice works closely with clients on new homes, knock-down rebuilds, extensions and renovations, balancing their needs and aspirations with budget expectations. It takes time to understand how clients actually live, connecting their wish-list to inspired, thoughtful design. Its services also include feasibility studies, internal replanning, landscape design and town planning.

On Lunchbox, Thornbury House 5 extends a family home on Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung Country with room for growing teenagers and two home offices. Rather than sending them to landfill, brick paving from the rear yard and driveway was cleaned and restacked to build a new garden pavilion living room, linked to the house by a small study with a large glass window.
