Young Architects

Young Architects is an architecture practice based in Christchurch Central, New Zealand, with a portfolio of design projects spanning more than 20 years. It continues to create inspiring spaces for equally adventurous clients.

The practice's approach is summed up as simple, honest, attractive and empathetic. It believes great architecture is about the people who use and enjoy it, and that architecture should be a pleasure, emotionally and physically. Its design process draws on emotional intelligence as much as experience: getting to know clients, focusing on how spaces will interact, considering the environment, analysing construction costs and budget, and balancing energy efficiency with lifestyle and value. Clients often say its buildings are a pleasure to spend time in.

On Lunchbox, 338 Worsleys sits on top of an exposed spur and channels the carefree feel of a traditional New Zealand bach. Lifted above native grasses and clad in oiled cedar left to grey, it embraces rather than hides from the weather.
