Youssofzay + Hart

Youssofzay Hart is a Sydney architecture and interior design practice founded in 2017 by directors Belqis Youssofzay and David Hart. Recognised for concept-driven, rigorous and refined work, it operates across a range of scales with a focus on cultural and civic architecture.

The practice works with Australian and international arts institutions to design galleries, exhibitions, installations, gallery interiors and bespoke furniture, and is part of the architecture teams for Powerhouse Ultimo Renewal, Blacktown Arts and the Sydney Metro West Linewide project. Alongside its public work, it pursues commercial and residential projects with density, sustainability and resource use at the forefront. Its core philosophy is to create equitable, accessible and enjoyable spaces for all, in a way that is sustainable and radical.

On Lunchbox, Courtyard House in North Rocks adds a thin recycled brick pavilion to the rear of a Western Sydney home. Leaving breathing room between old and new creates a north-facing courtyard around which the whole home now revolves.

See Courtyard House on Lunchbox below.

Leave Some Breathing Room Between the Existing Home and Addition...

A thin addition to this home creates new living spaces, but the bonus is a courtyard created by leaving space between existing and new.
