Ecolibrium Designs

Ecolibrium is a sustainable building design studio in Eumundi, serving the Sunshine Coast and broader South East Queensland since 2006. It is led by owner and principal building designer Brett Grimley. The team designs new homes and renovations, from tiny homes to eco resorts, and also helps with property planning, from permaculture to revegetation. As they put it, "Sustainable building design is all that we do."

Their goal is that you'll put the key in your front door, walk in and say to yourself "it's good to be home": comfortable, energy efficient and healthy to live in. Passive solar design, natural ventilation, thermal mass and good insulation do the heavy lifting. Their project The Ark won a Chapter Award and a 2021 National Design Award.

On Lunchbox, Hempcrete House is Mark and Megan's off-grid family home on 25 acres in the Sunshine Coast hinterland. It has a north-facing passive solar layout, louvre windows for cross ventilation, and a timber frame fully wrapped in hempcrete.
