Maike Design
Maike Design is a Melbourne architecture and interior design practice founded by Mairead Murphy, an architect and interior designer with more than 20 years of experience. It specialises in carefully crafted spaces for living and working across Melbourne, country Victoria and interstate, with a particular interest in homes for every life stage.
The practice aims to create spaces that delight and provide a lasting sense of place, celebrating the nuances of daily rituals and finding subtle beauty in functional requirements. Recognising that every client's life is unique, it responds thoughtfully to each project's context and each client's needs, and values good design, quality construction, craftsmanship, bespoke detailing and honest materiality.
On Lunchbox, Garden House adds a light-filled living pavilion to a Californian bungalow in Melbourne. Linked to the original by a glazed connection, the brick pavilion hugs the southern boundary and opens north to the garden, while the older rooms become bedrooms, bathrooms and a private lounge.
