Maxa Design

Maxa Design is a Melbourne building design practice established in 2004 by Sven Maxa, specialising in sustainable house designs "for current and future generations". Its high-level eco and energy-efficient homes, including certified Passive House designs, are built to brief and budget with creativity and a practical, can-do approach. The practice designed Australia's first 10-star rated relocatable home, is proudly carbon neutral, and has grown from a husband-and-wife duo to a team of nine.

Its work spans suburban Passivhaus homes, fully self-sufficient houses in country Victoria, new homes and renovations, and the practice also offers Passivhaus consulting. Sven is actively involved in the building design community and is a past member of the Committee of Management of Design Matters National.

On Lunchbox, Tonimbuk House is a modern take on the wool shed on 10 acres in the Bunyip State Park, adapting existing masonry walls. Brunswick Renovations uses passive design, solar panels and a water tank to create an energy-positive, income-generating home.
