Richard King Design

Richard King Design (RK-D) is a Melbourne design practice led by designer Richard King. Its services cover the full design process, from briefing and concept design through design development and tender to contract administration, with residential projects in Melbourne and beyond.

On Lunchbox, Kingsville Residence redesigns a dilapidated Federation cottage by looking to its roof. After removing much of a 1990s lean-to, the designers extended the original roofline to create a voluminous, light-filled space for modern living. Balaclava Remodel reworks a 100 square metre townhouse that felt needlessly cramped. "'Make the space work harder' was my mantra for this project," Richard explains, and a simplified floor plan and materials running through the whole home make every part of it useful.
