Architecture architecture is a Fitzroy practice founded in 2012 by Michael Roper and Nick James, "with a vision to create homes and schools where families and communities flourish." Their work spans houses, multi-residential, educational and cultural projects, and a handful of principles guide it all: "We prioritise comfort and delight in all things", "We create environments that are healthy, robust and sustainable", and "We encourage curiosity in our fellow human beings."
They have a whole run of homes on Lunchbox. Turnaround House grows like a sunflower to face the sun. The Purple Rose of Cairo uses a curtain to switch a tiny apartment between dining and bedroom mode, and Stanhill Apartment gives a famous Melbourne apartment a modern update. The Kite is a kite-shaped home that somehow just works, Miller House connects old and new with rich materials and light-filled courtyards, Hip & Gable House shows a roof can be more than just a roof, and Dark Horse rounds out the set.
