BoardGrove Architects is a Melbourne practice based in St Kilda, working across community, commercial and residential projects, as well as objects and installations.

On Lunchbox, Footscray Apartment shows how much a few smart moves can do in a small space. The architects took a pretty standard two-bedroom apartment in Footscray and turned it into a light-filled, flexible home. Small changes to the floor plan give each bedroom more than one entrance, separated by sliding doors, so rooms can open up or close off as needed. Curved joinery, a crisp white kitchen, polished concrete and good cross ventilation make the 95-square-metre apartment feel far more generous than before.
