Chris Tate Architecture

Chris Tate is a boutique architectural designer with offices in Auckland, New Zealand, and in Venice Beach, Los Angeles, in partnership with Immediato Design. His motto is "Changing the world through architecture", and he creates "buildings of outstanding and unique modernity", each design "as individual and daring as his imagination will go." His portfolio includes homes such as Lake Pupuke House, Forest House, Bunker House and Hahei Beach House.

On Lunchbox, Tent House challenges what a weekend house can be. Built by Chris with a group of architecture students as a hands-on, experimental project, the 70-square-metre retreat sits in the New Zealand bush, with a sculptural roof, a mezzanine, curved forms and a feature stair that make it both nothing like and exactly like the weekender you might imagine.
