Fox Johnston Architects on Lunchbox Architect

Fox Johnston Architects, now Studio Johnston, is a Sydney practice for architecture and interiors based in Surry Hills and led by founder, director and nominated architect Conrad Johnston. It works across houses, multi-residential, interiors and public and commercial projects.

"We design beautiful, sustainable places, uniquely tailored to people and purpose," the studio says. "We infuse the elements of sunlight, water and wind, and craft natural materials as touchstones to memory and place." Conrad's design philosophy is based on "people, narrative and place".

On Lunchbox, Queens Park House creates flexible spaces for a family with three young children that can change as they grow, from a playroom that could become a study to a laneway guest retreat. Balmain House delivers generous, light-filled living on a small inner-city block bordered by 14 neighbouring properties.
