Mac-Interactive Architects on Lunchbox Architect
Mac-Interactive Architects is a Sydney architecture practice based in Surry Hills.
Its Lunchbox project, Stirling House, is a new house replacing two very narrow, dilapidated two-storey weatherboard cottages. After discussions with the Heritage Department found the cottages could not be restored to anything more than museum status or brought up to current building standards, the architects had a rare opportunity to insert a contemporary building into a heritage conservation area. The result is a home that is rich materially and spatially, and fun from every angle.

Rich Materially and Spatially, Stirling House is Fun From Every Angle
Dubbed 'The Ark', this child-friendly house has loads of character and a story to tell. It's the antithesis of a minimalist white box.
