MAKE Architecture
MAKE Architecture is a Melbourne architecture practice. Its five Lunchbox projects share an approach that treats existing homes with care and respect, often achieving more by building less.
House Reduction in Abbotsford actually made a Victorian-era home smaller, adding a covered deck that becomes an extra room when its sliding doors and timber screen are open. Amy's House in Northcote transforms a Californian bungalow through a light-touch reconfiguration rather than a gut-and-rebuild, treating new work as another chapter in the home's history. Local House in St Kilda adds an extension barely bigger than the original bungalow, conceived more like a favourite local café than a private house.
M House in Northcote extrudes the existing double hip roof to create a small courtyard that brings northern light into the living spaces, and House Rosebank adds charcoal-brick living areas to a grand Edwardian house in Kew, with a clear definition between old and new.

M House's Modest Renovation is Designed to Transform the Original Home
Small but with delight, M House looks at how a modest renovation can make a positive contribution to the way a family live.
