Raffaello Rosselli on Lunchbox Architect

Raffaello Rosselli is a Sydney architect who works through his studio, RdotR.

On Lunchbox, Tinshed reinterprets one of Australia's most iconic structures. A dilapidated, windowless double-storey tin shed on a corner in Redfern, the last one remaining in the area and a reminder of the suburb's industrial past, was carefully taken apart and rebuilt as an office and studio. A new timber frame went up, the layers of corrugated iron accumulated over generations of repair were reassembled on three facades, and Corten steel window boxes now cut through the form to open the once-blind building to the lane and street. Materials were left raw and honest, and the building is designed to keep changing with rust, decay and repair.
